Story
In January 2027, I'm swapping my comfort zone for the Arctic wilderness!
I'll be joining one of two teams from tms, heading to the remote wilds of North Kiruna, Sweden, to take on the incredible Arctic Challenge.
Over the course of the challenge, we'll be tackling a 20km hike, a 35km dog sled race, ice fishing, and orienteering across some of the most spectacular snowy landscapes on earth. But perhaps the biggest challenge of all? Surviving in a hut with no electricity and nowhere to wash my hair!
To say this adventure is pushing me far outside my comfort zone would be a serious understatement!
The best part is that we're taking on this challenge to raise money for the National Literacy Trust, helping to transform the life stories of children growing up in some of the UK's most disadvantaged communities.
Every child deserves the chance to reach their full potential. Yet children from the poorest backgrounds often start school, on average, 19 months behind their more advantaged peers. Without strong literacy skills, they face barriers throughout their lives, being:
- Five times more likely to miss expected English standards at age 11
- Four times more likely to be unemployed at age 34
- Three times more likely to experience mental health challenges as adults
The funds raised through the Arctic Challenge will help the National Literacy Trust give children the literacy skills and confidence they need to thrive.
So while I'll be battling freezing temperatures, navigating the wilderness, and desperately missing hot showers, I'll be doing it for a truly amazing cause.
Thank you so much for your support and generosity. Every donation makes a difference!
