Story
On 30th March, my gorgeous sister in law, Katie Swinburne was diagnosed with Lobular Breast cancer
Invasive Lobular Breast Cancer (ILC) is the 2nd most common type of breast cancer, yet ILC currently has no specific treatment.
Researchers at The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) in London believe with more funding specifically for lobular breast cancer research, they could fully understand the biology of ILC. This is the vital next step to getting the specific treatment needed to improve outcomes.
Dr. Susan Michaelis launched the 'Lobular Moon Shot Project' on 25 May 2023, one month after Katie’s cancer surgery. The project seeks to raise £20,000,000 for a 5 year research project into ILC by ICR.
Myself and the lovely Helen Verry are running the Vitality 10K in London on the 24 September
We’ll dedicate every step to Katie and to women like her, who undergo the trauma of diagnosis, face the fear of discussing care options and then deal with the side effects and challenges of receiving treatment
Katie has a network of family and friends who adore her, and she has been so brave, with her positivity and beautiful smile. To contribute even just a little towards funds required to research into this dreadful disease would mean so much to us all ❤️
