Honoring Hayley's Courage: Wing Walk for Sepsis Charity
In loving memory of my beautiful sister, Hayley, I will be undertaking a wing walk on September 28th, which would have been her 50th birthday. This event is not just about the thrill of the challenge, but about honoring the incredible strength and spirit Hayley showed throughout her life and during her battle with severe illness.
Hayley’s Journey:
Hayley was a devoted mother of two and a passionate mental health nurse. Despite suffering a stroke soon after qualifying, she fought back, returned to the job she loved, and continued to help others. Her journey was filled with battles - from surviving a blood clot that led to extensive surgery to managing her autoimmune disorder, lupus. Even when her health was at its most challenging, Hayley never lost her love for life and her family.
The last part of her journey saw her hospitalized at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, where she found some stability and joy. Unfortunately, she fell ill around Christmas, and despite her incredible strength, she succumbed to pneumonia and sepsis just before New Year’s Eve.
Why I’m Doing This:
I’m choosing to support the Sepsis Trust because it’s a cause that is deeply connected to Hayley’s final battle. Sepsis is a life-threatening condition, and by raising funds, I hope to contribute to the efforts to combat this illness and support those affected by it.
How You Can Help:
I aim to raise over £1,000 in Hayley’s memory. Your donations will support the Sepsis Trust in their vital work. Your generosity will mean the world to me, our family, and all those fighting this silent killer.
Join Me in Remembering Hayley:
Please consider donating to my fundraising campaign. Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant impact. Let’s honor Hayley’s memory and help ensure others have the support they need in their battles with sepsis.
