Every week 125 people take their own lives. 75% of them are men. Suicide is the biggest killer in men under 50. The suicide rate for young women under 24 has seen the steepest increase since records began. Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) provide support for people who are living miserably to try to prevent them taking their lives and to help them to better cope with their situations. 28,000 calls come into the CALM helpline every month, a call for help is answered every 59 seconds. £8 funds a potentially life-saving chat on the CALM helpline.

To raise donations for CALM, I am going to do a "triathlon" in memory of a friend from my triathlon club and in memory of others from the ultra marathon community, who have taken their lives.

The "triathlon" of Run, Swim, Cycle, will be three separate events completed in 2024.

THE RUN: Winter Spine Race, 268 miles from Edale to Kirk Yetholm along the Pennine Way starting on 15th January 2024.

THE SWIM: Swim end to end of Coniston Water in the Lake District, a distance of 5.25 miles on the 22nd June 2024 with Chillswim, ask anyone at the tri club and this is probably the hardest of the events for me.

THE CYCLE: Lands End to John O'Groats, about 1000 miles and planned to be completed in September 2024.
