On Thursday, 13th March 2025, we will say goodbye to my dad, Jim Elrick.

He passed away suddenly in the early hours of Monday, 3rd March, at just 68 years old, after suffering a cardiac arrest completely out of the blue. We are still in shock—he was fit, healthy, and full of life, looking forward to many more years of adventure.

This weekend, the three of us—my mum, my dad, and I—were meant to be in Rome together. My parents had planned to run a 5K fun run on Saturday before cheering me on as I took on the marathon on Sunday. Instead, I will now be running it in his memory.

Ayrshire East Foodbank provide nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people in our area who are referred to them in crisis. They are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by the Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.
