Jim Green is raising money for Dementia UK

Redbrik Chesterfield 10k... Pushing a washing machine · 17 May 2026

Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity. Our nurses, called Admiral Nurses – who we continually support and develop – provide life-changing care for families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease.

Story

This year, on 17 May 2026, I will be taking on the incredible Redbrik Chesterfield 10k race but with a difference... Instead of just running, I’ll be pushing a washing machine weighing 70kg throughout the course. It’s a personal challenge that pushes me beyond my limits, and I’m doing it for a cause close to my heart: Dementia UK.

Dementia UK provides vital support to families affected by dementia, including conditions like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. They offer specialist care, medicine for sufferers, and fund essential research projects aimed at improving lives. My reasons for supporting this charity are deeply personal and something my family prefers to keep private, but the truth is we never know when we or someone we love might need their help.

I’m aiming to raise £1,000 to support Dementia UK’s incredible work. Every donation helps provide comfort and care to those who need it most. If you can spare anything, please consider donating through my JustGiving page — it’s quick, secure, and your generosity goes directly to the charity without any hassle.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read about my challenge and for any support you can offer. Together, we can make a real difference.
