Founded in 2016 by two former serving soldiers, Calum MacLeod and Colin Maclachlan, Who Dares Cares has a team of volunteers committed to supporting our Armed Forces and Blue Light Services personnel, including their families, who are suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Story

At the beginning of September 2023 I  attempted  this challenge , solo and wildcamping.  Unfortunately the weather beat me with sweltering 26 degree heat every day I had to make the decision to not walk up Ben Nevis.

Walking the 96 mile West Highland Way was yes an achievement that most people would be satisfied with.

However since returning my head has consistently been nagging at me, I don't like to fail things, for me having not walked up Ben Nevis was a failure!!

The only way I know to get over this feeling is by completing the challenge, so on Sunday April 14th I'll be  heading back up to Scotland to do the challenge in full in what I would hope will be cooler possibly wetter conditions.

I'm going to be completing the walk for my own mental health as well as for 2 charities, my 2 organisations being the same as last year Who Dares Cares and PTSD999.

Two great organisations helping serving/retired and families of ex armed forces and emergency service personnel who are suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Me, I was diagnosed with PTSD in 2018, I've had the privilege of serving as a Gordon Highlander, prison officer as well as a police officer.

Every day is a bonus and that little bit further in my recovery with the help of Who Dares Cares and PTSD999  I am on the right road, pushing that little bit further!!

Please help me support these organisations by donating to my page, every little helps!!
