Story
Thank you for taking the time to read my Brave 2025 Page.
On 29 May 2024 I was admitted to The Anchor Unit, Ward 112 Haematology having been diagnosed with Diffuse large B-Cell Non Hodgkin Lymphoma. Ten days later on the 8 June I was discharged home with a full treatment plan in place and having had the first of six Chemotherapy Infusions earlier that day.
What followed was intense to say the least. My final Chemotherapy was in October. In November I then returned to Ward 112 on two separate occasions for a number of days when I had a further two cycles of high dose Chemotherapy.
Whilst the journey was fast and furious at times it all paid off on 8 January 2025 when I was told that I was in full remission.
Friends of Anchor were with me and at my side on each and every step of this journey whether it was simply for a chat or making use of their complimentary therapies or wellbeing sessions.
It goes without saying that I could not have got through it all without the help of my family and close friends with their hospital and home visits and all the messages of support I received. So from the bottom of my heart I thank you so much. Never to be forgotten
On 8 and 9 May 2025 I will be on the Catwalk at Brave 2025 along with 23 other men who all have a cancer story to tell with some still undergoing treatment. Whilst we are all rather apprehensive about this event I feel it is the very least I can do repay Friends of Anchor and the Medical team at Ward 112 for all they did for me over the period.
I would be more than delighted if you could find it within yourself to donate to this Charity bearing in mind that 100% of your donations will go to Friends of Anchor as all admin costs are covered by Balmoral Group in Aberdeen.
