James and Willy's Crazy Charity Challenge

Francis Construction is raising money for No 5 Young People

Charity Cycle Event · 9 October 2025

Since 1971, No5 Young People has been providing free, confidential mental health support, counselling and outreach for young people aged 11-25 who live, work or study in the ‘RG’ postcode area. We support over 2,500 young people every year.

Story

On Thursday 9th October, James and Will are setting off on another wild adventure, cycling unsupported over an incredible 830km from Bergerac in Southern France to Cherbourg in Northern France! This is over 200km a day with over a 1/3 off road and whilst wild camping and staying in campsites.

This challenge is timed perfectly, as 10th October is World Mental Health Day, and we’re proud to be joining No5 Young People in marking the occasion by participating in #BePurpleDay. Keep an eye out for photos of James and Will sporting a pop of purple throughout their journey to show support for young people's mental health!

They're taking on this challenge to support Francis Construction in raising vital funds for their dedicated charity, No5 Young People, an organisation committed to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of young people through free, confidential counselling and outreach services.

Why It Matters

In 2024, No5 supported 824 young people through 1:1 counselling, that’s nearly one for every kilometre James and Will will ride! So every kilometre completed on this journey represents a young person who received life-changing support from No5. Mental health challenges among young people are rising, and No5 Young People is on the front line, providing essential services that are more important than ever. Your support will help ensure no young person faces their struggles alone.

Since 1971, No5 has been offering free, confidential counselling and mental health support for young people aged 11-25 who live, work or study in the RG postcode area. Your support through fundraising allows us to carry on supporting young people’s mental health. Without the generous donations that we receive from our supporters and partners we would not be able to continue to provide free counselling services to young people.

How You Can Help

Please donate whatever you can to cheer James and Will on and help them smash their fundraising goal. Every pound makes a difference and keeps those pedals turning!

Thanks to match-funding made available through No5's Big Give #ChristmasChallenge, every pound raised will be doubled, meaning we’ll make twice the difference to local young people's mental health.

Thank you for your generosity and support!
