I am doing this for the men...more importantly my dad. 1 week before Christmas of 2024, we got the news that my dad had prostate cancer. I will be honest, I wanted the world to swallow me up. Just 6 month's before, my dad had a routine blood test all was good. Another 'routine' blood test shown his prostate markers were high, over 33, the NHS got him in quick. Multiple scans and tests confirmed it, so we knew what we were dealing with. Hormone therapy started and then the evasive radiotherapy. This was a hard watch, but in true Smith style, my dad battled on through. Recent prostate cancer markings are back in the 'normal' range of 2.5 for my dad and his hormone therapy continues for the foreseeable. I started running for cardio in November of 24 never being able to run, stop starting with a few injuries, but with dad's recent diagnosis I knew I wanted to help. So just 6 weeks after my 1st run, my eldest saw a race advertised and said mum shall we??? and in Jo's style she & Josh sign up to their 1st half marathon 🙌 Manchester!!! Why?? to raise as much money as possible in the hope that one day we can find a cure 🙏 Prostate cancer, there is no cure. We live in hope that the person, our loved ones, who are diagnosed with Prostate cancer can go on to live for as long as possible ✨️ We don't know what the future holds and this is always in the forefront of our minds but what I can say for certain is my dad is a fighter, and I will fight this with him every step of the way.

So this is for our dad's, our grandads, husbands, uncles, nephews, our son's and our male friends. Whatever little you can contribute, will certainly go a long way. We are doing this for you pops, let's go win this together ❤️
