Story
We are excited to take on the "Swim the Night Hampton 2025" challenge for Aspire, a charity dedicated to supporting those affected by spinal injuries. Overnight on 4th-5th October, we will swim either 1km (Jo) or 1 mile (Harriet) every hour for 12 hours at Hampton Lido. What started as an exciting idea from the comfort of the sofa has become a series of early morning swims, rediscovering strength training at the gym, and regularly asking ourselves what on earth we were thinking when we took this on. But while we have plenty of time in the pool to question our life choices, we are also lucky to be able to take on this challenge.
For many people with spinal cord injuries, life changes dramatically in an instant. Aspire plays a crucial role in helping these individuals regain their independence through many services including accessible housing, support for independent living, welfare advice, and assistive technology. Every two hours, someone is paralyzed by a spinal cord injury, and unfortunately, there is currently no cure. The funds we raise will directly support Aspire's vital services and help those affected transition from injury to independence.
Our target is to raise £1,000 to help make a meaningful impact for those whose lives have changed overnight. We would really appreciate any contribution you could make towards helping us achieve this goal.
