After 6 cancellations, I'm currently waiting a new date. But I WILL do it!
Thank you for visiting my page.
As lots of you know, I have a habit of doing slightly crazy things, all in the name of charity, from abseils, Lego Walks to marathons. This year, I have completely surpassed myself and signed up to do a Wing Walk.
Yes, I will be strapped to the top of a plane as it flies through the air. Yes, I am a little crazy!!
Why Sarcoma UK?
In March 2004, my son Reece was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare cancer affecting his muscle tissue around his bowel and bladder. It took several trips to the GP/Out of Hours service to get a diagnosis before a transfer from our local hospital to St James's Hospital, Leeds. He then underwent six rounds of chemotherapy before the tumour had shrunk enough to have surgery and then a further three rounds of chemo. He is now clear and no real long term issues, but still has regular follow ups.
In March 2015, almost 11 years to the day since Reece's diagnosis, I was also given the news that I had cancer (sarcoma). This time, a much rarer form called Gastro-Intestinal Stromal Tumour, or GIST for short. GIST affects around 900 people each year in the UK and is mainly in people over 55. Due to my age at the time, and a genetic condition called Neurofibromatosis, my diagnosis fell into an even rarer form called Paediatric, Adolescent, Wild-type and Syndromic GIST (PAWS-GIST). Of the 900 people diagnosed with GIST, 15 of these will fall into the PAWS-GIST category.
I’m supporting Sarcoma UK, a national charity that funds vital research, offers support for anyone affected by sarcoma cancer and campaigns for better treatments. Sarcoma is a type of cancer that develops in the bone and soft tissue. It is difficult to diagnose and one of the hardest to treat. By supporting me, we can help change this. Your donation will help researchers find answers, keep our Support Line open, and raise awareness to improve treatment and standards of care.
Thank you for your support.
Run down of all the changes!
