Story
I am running the TCS London Marathon with #TeamNSPCC on Saturday 24th April 2027!
This year I have developed a love of running. Having been through a lot in my personal life, running is a time when I can have some time to myself to clear my head, be alone with my thoughts and push myself to be my personal best. I always feel better after going out for a run and throughout the year have pushed myself to run and achieve different distances. I feel so proud of myself for taking part in park runs this year and in May took part in my first half marathon race.
In March 2028 I will be turning 40 and have challenged myself to write a bucket list of ‘40 before 40’. At the very top of the list is running the London marathon. Lots of people have said to me ‘there are other marathons’ but my heart is set on London! With my response being ‘If I’m running a marathon then it’s got to be London!’
I was born in London and as a child always went along to give out water to runners on marathon day. I can hand on heart say there is nothing like the atmosphere felt in London on marathon day and to be able to be a part of that while running will be a dream come true!
I am honoured to be running the marathon for NSPCC. I am a primary school teacher with three children of my own. The reason I went into teaching was to make a difference to the lives of children. Throughout my years of teaching, I have worked with children from all different backgrounds. It is my strong belief that no child ever asks to be born and it is our duty as parents, adults and teachers to provide each child with the best start in life and childhood experiences. Sadly, I have seen firsthand that all children are different and not every child is fortunate enough to be born into a loving, stable home. This year I am fundraising on behalf of the NSPCC so that no child has to experience cruelty or grow up experiencing abuse. It is my wish for all children to grow up feeling safe, loved and cared for.
My greatest gift in life is being a mum to my three beautiful children! They are my purpose in everything I do. They will be what spurs me on when the running gets tough. I can’t wait for them to see me run and hopefully make them proud.
So please support me in my journey - spare any pennies you can for this great cause and if you’re not doing anything on Saturday 24th April 2027 then come and cheer me on!
