I’m running the Newport Half Marathon this April to raise money for the The Tom Barrow Brugada Trust.

The trust was set up in 2024 in memory of my brother Tom, who died very suddenly and tragically in 2023 from Brugada Syndrome at just 38 years old. Tom (Baz) was a devoted husband and father, and a much-loved son, brother, uncle and friend who is deeply missed by everyone who knew him.

Brugada Syndrome is a rare heart condition that can cause sudden cardiac arrest in otherwise healthy people. The trust aims to support awareness and research into Brugada Syndrome, with the hope of helping prevent other families from experiencing the same painful and life changing loss.

Running a half marathon is not ever something I imagined id be doing! It feels like a small way to honour Tom and support the work of the trust in his memory.
