Jo's fundraiser for Wirral Hospice St John's

Hadrians Wall · 17 May 2025
Wirral Hospice St John’s is a truly special place. It provides amazing personal care and dignity to very poorly patients as well as one to one support to their families. I know this because I lost my beautiful mum Barbara just over 18 months ago and she was a patient here.
My mum was only 61 when she passed away and even during her time at the hospice her strength and focus was on her family and making sure we continued to live our best lives.
She told me, "do what makes you happy, grab every opportunity you can or make your own if there aren’t any" so I did, and I am!
6 months later, an amazing opportunity to work at the hospice became available. I grabbed the chance, which definitely has helped me become happier. Now, I want to give something back.
I have been thinking about doing a hospice challenge for a while but as people who know me will know, I like to push myself “for fun” so needed something mega… 84 miles, over 6 days, along Hadrian's Wall seemed mega enough.
Me and my "sole-mate" Daf plan to take on this challenge in May walking from Newcastle to Bowness on Solway. We are both experienced walkers but neither of us have gone this far before, so we are just hoping for nice weather and minimal blisters.
The hospice is completely free for patients and families who need it but costs almost £7m a year to run and relies heavily on donations of like this.
Any support you can give would be very much appreciated. I am so grateful to the hospice and the amazing staff that supported me and my family during our worst time.
Thank you so much x
