Story
This July, we're taking part in Endometriosis UK's Walk for Endo 2026 to help raise vital funds and awareness for the 1 in 10 women and those assigned female at birth living with endometriosis. This year, Endometriosis UK is encouraging people to walk 9,000 steps every day throughout July, representing the shocking average 9 year wait for an endometriosis diagnosis.
As people living with endometriosis ourselves, we know that even reaching 9,000 steps can be incredibly challenging on difficult days. That's why we've decided to come together and take on an 8-mile walk along the South Downs Way on 22nd July to show our support for everyone affected by this condition.
Although we first met through our small businesses as local Brighton makers, we quickly discovered we shared something much more personal our experiences of living with endometriosis. This walk is not only a chance to raise awareness and funds, but also to stand together in support of everyone affected by this condition.
Our stories
Jo's story:
For eight years, I lived with the symptoms of endometriosis before finally receiving a diagnosis. Eight years of constant pain being dismissed, being told it was nothing serious, and having to fight to be believed. Even after finally getting answers, the battle didn't end. Managing this disease is an ongoing struggle, with limited treatment options and no cure. Endometriosis affects every aspect of daily life, and it's a condition that so many people continue to suffer with in silence.
Ruby's story:
In 2021, I was diagnosed with Stage 4 endometriosis following a private laparoscopy after facing very long NHS waiting times. During surgery, I discovered that my bowel had become tethered to my womb, a 10 cm ovarian cyst was removed, along with multiple endometriosis lesions. It was a huge shock to learn just how extensive the disease had become. Since then, I've experienced secondary infertility, which resulted in IVF, alongside ongoing chronic pain and other symptoms that continue to affect my everyday life.
Endometriosis UK supports people like us through every stage of this journey from the long and exhausting road to diagnosis, to living with a chronic condition that impacts every part of life. They fund vital research, provide trusted support and information, and campaign to reduce the unacceptable average 9-year wait for diagnosis, so future generations don't have to endure the same delays. We're walking for everyone who is still waiting for answers, still fighting to be heard, and still searching for a diagnosis.
If you're able to sponsor us, no matter how big or small the donation, it will make a real difference. Every contribution helps Endometriosis UK continue their incredible work supporting those affected by this devastating condition.
Thank you so much for your support it truly means the world to us.
