Joanna's fundraiser for Alzheimer's Research UK

Joanna Carnie is raising money for Alzheimer's Research UK

I am running from Fort William to John O'Groats · 1 May 2026

Alzheimer’s Research UK is the UK’s leading dementia research charity. We’re striving for a cure, by revolutionising the way we treat, diagnose and prevent dementia.

Story

My dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2021 at the age of 72, and until very recently my mum and the rest of the family (but mainly my mum) cared for him at home. As everyone who has spent time with a loved one with dementia knows, the disease is devastating. It has taken away so many years from my dad's life and has placed an awful strain on the family.

Every 3 minutes dementia steals a happy ever after for someone and their friends and family. Research is the only chance of changing these endings.

Alzheimer's Research are the UK's leading dementia research charity. They exist for a cure.

Your donation helps their scientists and researchers find new ways to diagnose dementia, develop new treatments and find a cure.
