Running the London Marathon has been on my bucket list for many, many years; every year, I watch the marathon on the TV and follow friends on the app, in awe of the dedication to the training and to the fundraising. I have decided 2026 is the year to finally reach for the impossible.

Running is part of who I am and has become a necessity in my life, whether I’m happy or sad, I run and it helps me. Believe it or not, this will be my first ever marathon and the furthest I will have ever ran. I am absolutely over the moon and honoured to have been chosen to do this with (and for) Barnardo’s.

I’m looking forward to the road ahead but as well as the physical journey, I need to raise at least £2,400 (excluding gift aid) and I really hope you can support me in doing so.

I have chosen to fundraise for Barando’s specifically because they are a cause that I really care about and I really do believe that all children should be given the best start in life, no matter what.

Banardo’s is an incredible charity dedicated to transforming the lives of vulnerable children, young people and their families across the UK. With a rich history spanning very 150 years, they offer a vast array of specialist services, including support for those affected by domestic abuse, mental health problems, parental imprisonment and sexual exploitation. They are deeply committed to finding safe loving homes for children through fostering and adoption and provide early intervention for families struggling to cope. Beyond direct services, Barnardo’s actively campaigns to influence government policy and amplify the voices of young people, ensuring their experiences are heard and contribute to creating a better system for all. Their work also extends to combating child poverty, offering vocational training and providing crucial support for young carers, truly ensuring every child has the best start in life, regardless of their background or circumstances.
