The Cycle (formerly known as Sanitation First) is a not-for-profit organisation that has been working for over 20 years building safe, clean and sustainable eco-toilets, teaching period education and menstrual disorder programmes, and providing sustainable period products to communities in need.

Story

I will be walking 75km over 3 days along the Grand Union Canal from Paddington to Tring. I will be raising much needed funds for both Tushinde Children’s Trust in Kenya and The Cycle in India.

Firstly, Tushinde a children's charity working in Nairobi's Mathare and Kiambu informal settlements supporting over 500 vulnerable children. Through our social workers, we provide tailored family care and education to children from the poorest families in the Nairobi slums. Tushinde helps families strengthen and stay together. They do this through their family support programmes which provides families with a path from crisis to independence.

Secondly, The Cycle (formerly Sanitation First) which provides safe, and sustainable WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) services and improves menstrual health conditions in the poorest of areas. These vital necessities are the building blocks to gender equality.

Both of these charities do fabulously important work and any money raised would help them enormously.
