My 'Auntie Penny' was suddenly diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer in late July 2024. Penny was diagnosed on a Friday and by the Sunday had passed away. Martin and Rachel, her children, organised her funeral.
During Penny's funeral Martin took ill. Paramedics were called and he was taken to hospital. This was on a Friday. Martin was diagnosed also with stage 4 cancer and also passed away three days later.
This just leaves Rachel who suffers from Multiple Sclerosis and Uncle Ivan, who is just with us in body (as has Alzheimer's).
On the day of Martins Funeral we received a phone call from my husbands (Paul's) best friend. He told Paul that he had just been diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. He passed away 12 weeks later.
I have decided that, along with the above and through burying four other friends who have passed away from cancer this year and another two friends who are receiving cancer treatment, I should be proactive and help raise money for charity. I decided to raise money for Cancer Research, MS Society and Alzheimer's Society.
I will be doing the sky dive with my friend Hazel (left of photo) at my expense, weather permitting Easter Weekend. I hope to raise £4,500.00 in total over the three charities I am supporting.
I have created a 'Just Giving' page and hope that you may be able to help spread the word and help me achieve my goal.
