Genetic haemochromatosis (GH) can affect as many as 1 in 10 people in regions of the UK with an estimated 1.2million people at risk of serious ill health. We carry out pioneering research, increase public awareness, provide education to GPs & nurses and support families

Story

❤️ On 28th April 2024 I will be walking 23 miles to raise money in memory of my Dad who had haemochromatosis.

Genetic haemochromatosis is most common undiagnosed genetic condition in Scotland however it is not currently screened for.

Recent research suggests that around 1 in 113 people in Scotland are pre-disposed to the condition, but fewer than 1 in 20 have been diagnosed.

If haemochromatosis is not diagnosed quickly it can cause many health complications including organ damage, diabetes and heart failure. Here’s hoping one day everyone is screened for this condition.

Thanks for reading ❤️.
