Hearts & Minds is a small arts-in-health charity with a wide reach across Scotland. We aim to improve the experience of children in hospitals and hospices, and people with dementia in residential and respite care, by using the performing arts to encourage communication, interaction and laughter.

Story

I'm fundraising for Hearts & Minds, home of the Clowndoctors and Elderflowers. This amazing group of healthcare clowns work across hospitals, ASN schools, care homes and hospices to boost the care of patients and pupils, families and staff.

The Clowndoctors shine a ray of light in a dark time.

Whether I'm at a work or personal event I'm never in a room full of people without someone telling me how much the Clowndoctors have meant to them. Either through a child they love in hospital, or a family member with dementia. Although their stories are often touched by sadness or loss, they tell me how much better they and their loved one felt after a visit from the Clowndoctors.

They haven't laughed like that in weeks.

Almost everyone assumes the Clowndoctors are publicly funded. But they're not. They rely entirely on donations - fundraisers like this, individual and corporate giving, businesses, and other charitable trusts.

Children in hospital recover more quickly and get home faster.

The Clowndoctors lower anxiety and remove fear - reducing the need for medical intervention. They are particularly good at reaching people who have strong barriers to communication. Everyone who engages with the Clowndoctors is left feeling uplifted, valued and listened to.

Please help support your Clowndoctors. You never know when someone you love might need them.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
