Story
I'm taking a walk on the wild side for Pilgrims Hospices! A Wing Walk!
I've climbed mountains with the best teams, and company, walked miles and miles with the best companion and got battered and bruised with the best training team. But this time it's me, on my own, strapped to the front of a Boeing Stearman which was built in 1942 and initially used for pilot training during the 2nd World War. And of course, one of the father and son team who fly me.
You might ask why? Well, I'm a little old and tired of the blisters, bruises and have never found a fundraiser where I may find some peace, on my own, with my own thoughts.....I think I'm overthinking this peace thing, I'm strapped to the front of a plane flying between 80 - 120 mph!
But here's the other why.....
Pilgrims Hospices nurses and support staff provide skilled and compassionate end-of-life care for people living with life-limiting illness across east Kent.
£12 could pay for a patient's meals for the day
£25 could pay for an hour of specialist nursing care
£35 could pay for the Pilgrims Hospices Community Team to hold a consultation with a patient in their own home
£45 could pay for a one-to-one bereavement counselling session for someone struggling to cope with the loss of a loved one
My family, and others I know, have been supported by this and other hospices and without these fundraising events and our support things could very different to the patients, families and the care they receive.
By sponsoring my challenge, you'll be helping Pilgrims Hospices to be there for the next family who need their specialist care.
Thank you!
