Story

Justin was always anxious about where he would be when he passed but the team at St Leonard’s helped him feel listened to and safe. We spent some time at coffee mornings run by the hospice and Justin felt it was a place he would like to be if he couldn’t stay at home.
Thankfully he was able to stay at home with us however this was made possible with the support of the wonderful, caring hospice at home team. I honestly do not think we would have got through the last weeks without them.
I will always remember the care and compassion they shared with us when we really needed it the most. They are truly amazing and really need any donation you can give.
St Leonard’s Hospice provides care and support for people with life limiting illnesses and their families when they need it most, and we’ve been doing it for 40 years. Our patients’ needs are our priority, and our care is designed to make the best of their lives. We provide care at our Hospice, in patients’ homes, and in our community.
We provide care for free, but it’s not free to provide. It costs £7.9 million a year, and just a quarter of that comes from the government. We rely on the generosity of our community for the rest. Your donation means we can be here to help more people in York and surrounding areas when they need us most.
