Gig Buddies with Thera
Campaign by Thera Trust (RCN 1090163)
Gig Buddies enables adults with a learning disability to live an active social life by pairing members to like minded volunteers to enjoy their shared passion together.

Story

This year Callum, and his Gig Buddy Jo, are participating in the Kiltwalk to raise money for the amazing Gig Buddies charity! Callum and Jo were paired by Gig Buddies back in 2022, and have loved going along various events together, enjoying a shared love of musicals, comedy, drag shows and just a general great night out! Please give what you can to keep the amazing work by Gig Buddies going!

About Gig Buddies

For many people with a learning disability, paid support ends at 10pm, which makes a night out almost impossible. 70% of adults with a learning disability say they would like to get out more in the evenings.

Our Gig Buddies project matches members with a learning disability to like minded volunteers with a shared passion and views of a lifelong friendship.

We also have partnerships with multiple venues to advise and support them to ensure they feel comfortable and knowledgeable in welcoming people with a learning disability.

So far, we have helped more than 100 pairings enjoy more independence, have new experiences, and make lifelong friendships. Donate now to help us continue to create friendships powered by shared interests and grow our services to reach more people and venues looking for a more active social life.
