Story
This year I'm taking part in the Belfast Marathon to fundraise for Positive Futures to facilitate training and empowerment workshops for people we support with a learning disability, acquired brain injury or autism.
Positive Futures takes a person-centred approach and is passionate about giving people the confidence and skills to speak up. We will seek to deliver training in self‑advocacy, peer support, public speaking, empowering the people we support to believe that their voice matters.
There is no budget for this, which means every single donation will directly help someone gain confidence, develop new skills, and feel empowered to influence the decisions that affect their lives.
Positive Futures would like to build on the existing Advisory Board(LINK) and the Positive Achievers Group (LINK), while also creating local groups to ensure inclusivity, allowing more people to share their experiences and shape the support they receive.
