My Dad has been living with Dementia for several years now, of which the last 12 months have been particularly challenging for him, my family and my Mum in particular. After 60 years of marriage, celebrating their Diamond wedding in hospital last September, he is now living in a wonderful care home, ‘Sharston House’ (part of the Kingsley Healthcare Group), located in Knutsford. Whilst his care is second to none there and we continue to visit him daily, it’s not the same as him living at home with my Mum. It is so hard for him, my Mum and our wider family as he is loved so very much. Despite our best efforts to keep him at home, the impact his Dementia has had on him has led him to needing 24 hour care.
The Alzheimer’s Society are working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives as it has with ours. They do this by giving help to those living with dementia today and by providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding ground-breaking research.
There are so many deserving causes in the world but this is definitely one of them. Unfortunately, Dementia will touch many peoples lives at some point or another in the future. My family and I (12 of us in all) are therefore walking as ‘Woody’s Wanderer’s’ in support of my Dad and others like him❤️
Thank you for donating to the Alzheimer's Society, if you choose to do so. Together we can be of some help and hope to everyone affected by dementia.
