Capture is a UK based charity that supports those diagnosed with DSRCT and their families worldwide. We fund research that will benefit patients with DSRCT and their families in addition to providing emotional and practical support to patients and their families.

Story

In April 2027, I will be running the Manchester Marathon and raising £2,000 for Capture in memory of Liz Hatton.

Liz was a talented young photographer who sadly lost her life at just 17 years old after being diagnosed with Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumour (DSRCT), a rare and aggressive cancer.

Although I didn't know Liz personally, she attended the same school as my daughter, and I began following her journey after her diagnosis. Like so many others, I was inspired by her courage, positivity and determination in the face of unimaginable challenges.

Despite everything she was going through, Liz continued to pursue her passion for photography and worked tirelessly to make the most of every opportunity. Her resilience touched thousands of people and left a lasting impact on everyone who followed her story.

That is why I have chosen to run the Manchester Marathon in her memory.

Over the next 44 weeks, I will be training for 26.2 miles while raising funds for Capture, a charity dedicated to supporting patients and families affected by DSRCT and funding life-saving research into this rare and aggressive cancer.

Because DSRCT receives little to no government or large corporate funding, charities such as Capture play a vital role in supporting families facing this devastating diagnosis and helping to drive forward the research that could improve outcomes for future patients.

My goal is to raise £2,000.

There will be early mornings, long runs, sore legs and plenty of difficult training sessions along the way, but whenever things get tough, I'll remember why I started this challenge in the first place.

Every mile I run will be for Liz.

If you are able to support this fundraiser, no matter how much you can give, I would be incredibly grateful. Every donation will help support Capture's work, fund vital research, and provide hope to families affected by DSRCT.

If you can't donate, please consider sharing this page with your friends, family and colleagues.

Thank you for your support, encouragement and generosity.

Together, we can honour Liz's memory, support families facing DSRCT, and help fund the research needed to change the future for those diagnosed with this devastating disease.
