Story
Hi,
My name is Joanne and recently I’ve had the most devastating and heartbreaking losses, Here’s my story…
As some of you may know in September 2024 I was hit with the most devastating blow of losing my life partner Daniel so very suddenly and unexpectedly. This completely turned my world upside down and I was left to care for and support my family, single handed all the while trying to manage my own grief. On top of this I was also in the early stages of pregnancy, which myself and Daniel were absolutely over the moon about, we were excited to add to our large, loving family and for our youngest son kenzo to become a big brother.
I soldiered through my pregnancy, trying to place some normality within my broken family life whilst carrying the world on my shoulders.
After a complicated 3rd trimester at 01:25am on Friday 14th March 2025 at 36 weeks + 1 day, perfect Baby Daniel Jo Ramsey-Mitchell entered the world, looking like mummy but carrying the signature eyes that kenzo and his daddy have. An absolutely joyous moment that was instantly met with further worry, Daniel junior had immediate complications and after extensive tests and genetic screening, I was told Daniel junior had been born with a condition called ACTA-1 related congenital myopathy and needed round the clock care. I devoted my time between hospital stays and ensuring my children were supported and cared for. Daniel junior was strong! He proved medical advice wrong on many occasions and although I was made aware this condition would limit baby Daniel’s lifespan, I and my children was looking forward to and making plans for his arrival home, unfortunately that day wasn’t to come. Baby Daniel’s health deteriorated and despite best efforts baby Daniel was just too good for this world and joined Daddy with the angels on Sunday 25th May at 11:25pm, Baby Daniel passed away at just over 10 weeks old. A day that caused unimaginable and unbearable pain to myself and my family.
Baby Daniel Jo, leaves behind 3 big sisters, 5 year old brother Kenzo and 2 nephews Kash and Teddy.
When baby Daniel passed away I was greatful to be able to have a room and a cold cot next to me so I was able to spend 3 nights with him in the butterfly room at the UCLH, This is something a mother should never have to go through but I was so greatful that there was a cold cot available for my son on his passing. This meant so much to me to be able to spend some extra time with my beautiful little baby. Unfortunately not all parents have this option as cold cots are very costly and limited in hospitals, I believe all parents going through the unimaginable loss of a baby should be able to have a cold cot available for them to use If they wish.
My self and family & friends done a walk for baby Daniel and angel babies in baby loss week in October and raised £200. I would love to raise the whole £3000 for a cold cot. I’m gonna be doing a charity night in March to help raise more money. Details will be added on for this who would like to attend
Myself family & friends done this walk in October and we raised £200 in cash on the walk which is amazing. As my target is £3000 I’m still £2500 from target. I have now organised a charity event which is held on 14th and tickets are now on sale. You can contact me for those who would like to attend the event.
Since baby Daniels passing I want to do something to help other parents who are going through the same as me.
In memory of Daniel Jo Ramsey-Mitchell I will be doing a little stars walk from my house to UCLH hospital, I did this same walk for 72 days while my beautiful boy was in NICU.
October 9th-15th is baby loss awareness week. I would like to do this walk on 11th October. Anyone who would like to do the walk with me and my family is more than welcome to join. You can walk on behalf of a loved one yourself or someone you know. I will be walking from my house to UCLH hospital. The walk will start at 7pm. For this who would like to join and walk I will do a route where you can meet us along the way if you like or meet me at my house which I will pass the details on to those who have asked.
This GoFundMe aims to provide help by raising money for a cold cot for UCLH hospital.
The Abi cooling cots are made to order and cost £3000, This includes The Abi Cooling Cot, four cot liners, delivery and parts warranty for one year.
Myself and my family Thank you in advance for taking the time to read my story and Thank you to everyone who has showed love and support to me and my family whilst going through this devastating and heartbreak time.
Thank you,
Love
Joanne & Family xx
