Story
On the 7th of September 2025, I will be taking part in the Great North Run in Newcastle, alongside 60,000 other passionate runners. Those who know my sisters and I understand how deeply we care about fundraising and raising awareness for various cancer charities, including The Christie in Manchester and Rare Cancer charities. My sister Lucy especially, has dedicated herself tirelessly to support these causes, and now I want to help her commitment by contributing to her important work.
While the charity I’m running for may not be local to most of my friends and family, it’s crucial to recognise that anyone can find themselves in need of a larger hospital's assistance at any time. By participating in the Great North Run, I aim to support the incredible efforts of those working at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity. Every year, their children’s services treat over 10,000 young patients facing a wide range of conditions—from broken bones to mental health challenges.
Remarkable things happen across their hospitals every day; however, there is always a pressing need for those additional resources that can significantly enhance the experience for children and their families during tough times. The NHS cannot cover every expense, which is where this charity steps in—providing essential equipment, furnishings, and resources that help make hospital stays more comfortable during challenging moments.
I am setting a fundraising target of £500 to help ensure that these vital services continue to thrive. Your support can make a real difference! Together, let’s bring hope and comfort to those who need it most.
Thank you,

Jo 🏃♀️ 💕
