Story
Hughie’s Girls
In 2026 we are taking on three tough challenges together to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society in memory of our Dad, Hugh.
As a family team we will be completing the AJ Bell Birmingham Great North Run 10k in May, Trek26 in the Peak District in June, and the Belfast Half Marathon in September. These events are not just physical challenges for us, they are a way of doing something meaningful together while honouring Dad’s legacy.
We are taking this on as sisters because we know how powerful it can be to face difficult things side by side. Joanne will be doing all three events, Laura will be joining for Trek26, and together we are proud to be Hughie’s Girls. Dad meant everything to us, and this feels like a fitting way to keep his memory at the heart of something positive.
Alzheimer’s Society is a charity that matters deeply to our family. Dementia affects entire families, not just the person living with the condition. We saw first hand how devastating the illness can be and how much support, understanding, and research are still needed. By fundraising together, we hope to help other families receive the care, guidance, and hope they deserve.
We know this year will be challenging, both physically and emotionally, but we are committed to seeing it through as a team. Every donation, big or small, will help make a real difference.
Thank you for supporting Hughie’s Girls and for helping us honour our Dad in a way that truly means something to us.
With love,
Hughie’s Girls
Clare, Joanne, and Laura
