Story

Welcome to my London Marathon 2026 profile page for Diabetes UK. Did you know that in the UK, 1 in 5 adults have diabetes or pre-diabetes. 90% of those have Type 2 diabetes, often linked to lifestyle factors. Per hour, 28 people are diagnosed with diabetes - that’s almost one person every 2 minutes!

Diabetes has always been close to my heart, and my home.

My mum was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 30 while on holiday abroad in Portugal. I grew up learning how to support her, watching her manage life with courage and resilience. Later, my grandma was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 81. As well as both my uncle’s and aunty, who were also diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. It’s a condition that’s shaped the lives of many people in my family.

Despite all the hard work by Diabetes UK, the advancements in treatment and awareness, there’s still so much work to do. People are often diagnosed unexpectedly—just like my mum was. Too many don’t know the signs, don’t get tested, and find themselves facing this life-changing diagnosis alone.

That’s why I’m running the 2026 London Marathon for Diabetes UK—to raise awareness, inspire people to live healthy and well-informed lives, and to shine a light on the emotional side of diabetes: the loneliness and the strength it takes to keep going. Diabetes is relentless, but so are you!

Please support me if you can—every donation, no matter how small, makes a huge difference. Thank you for helping me make each mile count 💙🧡
