In April 2027, I’ll be running the London Landmarks half marathon in support of Dementia UK, in loving memory of our Nanny Pat. April has been a difficult month for us over the last few years, as we’ve also lost two other close family members during this time, which makes this challenge even more meaningful. Taking on this run is my way of turning a painful month into something positive—honouring their memories while helping families affected by dementia receive the support they need. Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity. Our nurses, called Admiral Nurses, provide life-changing care to families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimer's disease. They help people with dementia stay independent for longer, and support the people caring for them so they have the strength to cope with the bad days, and the energy to enjoy the good days. They have the time to listen and the knowledge to solve problems, helping families take back control when they are struggling.
