Oh goodness... I'm actually doing this!

On Sunday 25th April 2027, I'll be standing on the start line of the London Marathon, ready to take on 26.2 miles.

If you know me, you'll know I'm superbly emotional at the best of times, so there will almost certainly be plenty of tears between now and the finish line. I'll likely cry for half of the journey, but I know I'll be smiling through it as I bounce along in my own unique running style.

The road to get there won't be easy. There will be hurdles, early mornings, long runs, self-doubt, frozen Reynaud's fingers, stubbornness, sore legs, Glenn's incredible support with the girls, but every single mile will be worth it if it helps raise money for SpecialEffect, and shows the girls dedication, kindness and determination can go a long way!

SpecialEffect does amazing work, putting fun, independence and inclusion back into the lives of children and adults with physical disabilities through the power of gaming. Their specialist teams create and loan personalised gaming setups, adapting technology so people of all ages can play the games they love in a way that works for them. Seeing my girls at their Headquarters playing Minecraft using EyeGaze technology (only using their eyes) and Mario with adaptive controllers was so humbling and inspiring.

Beyond helping individuals, they share their expertise with players and developers around the world, helping make gaming more accessible for everyone. All of their support is completely free, lifelong, and driven by one simple goal: to do whatever it takes to improve the quality of life of as many disabled gamers as possible.
