Story
Havens have played a special role in my family since 2005, when they looked after my Grandad in his final weeks after a battle with leukaemia. They not only provided incredible support to my Grandad but to my family as well, and this is something that we can never thank them enough for 💙
More recently, I sadly lost my other Grandad to cancer, which he fought hard since his diagnosis but was laid to rest on 17th August 2025. A wonderful nurse named Katie from Havens was at my Grandad’s bedside as he passed, and stayed with my family to be the strength we needed at such a difficult time.
My Grandad’s passing was exactly two weeks to the day before Havens offered me a London Marathon charity place - something I am honoured to have been chosen for, and will be forever grateful for. The timing meant everything to me and brought positivity to my family that we so desperately needed.
Just 5 weeks after finding out I was running the London Marathon, on 7th September 2025, my Nanny also sadly passed away. After an already difficult time things got harder, but losing my Nanny gave me even more motivation. Knowing I’ll be carrying my grandparents with me on the day makes it feel even more special 🪽
I am running the marathon in memory of my grandparents, but I am fundraising to support everyone who has been touched by this wonderful charity. To have the chance to give back to them even a small fraction of what they give to others means the world to me.
Thank you very much for your support, and to both my Grandads and my Nanny - this is for you. I’ll give it my all to make you proud up there, and know you’ll be there with me every step of the way ❤️
