My dad was big into missions and he really had a heart for people. After he passed away in 2020, I ended up with a big bagful of his neckties, and had no clue what to do with them. I ended up donating most of them to a group affiliated with my grandmother's church that makes sleeping bags for the homeless out of scrap materials, and they use neckties as the sleeping bag straps. I've spent the last 4 years trying to figure out how to meaningfully commemorate my dad's birthday, and I e decided that fundraising for an individual charity group each year is the way to go. This year, I chose the Lord's Pantry because they were integral in helping my husband and I out in the aftermath of Hurricane Ida, so this organization is meaningful to me. Please donate in memory of my dad, it would mean a lot to me.
