Story
Hi everyone,
On 18th June 2026, 6 of us will be taking on the challenge once again of playing 72 holes of golf in one day at Woburn Sands & Aspley Guise Golf Club — starting at 6am and hopefully finishing before it gets dark!
For those who followed last year, you’ll know this is no small task — it took us nearly 16 hours and over 24 miles of walking to complete. This will now be my third year doing the challenge, and it honestly means just as much—if not more—every time.
This year we’re adding something extra to keep things interesting. We’ll be playing a 72-hole Texas Scramble from the red tees, and for every birdie we make, each player will donate £1. Last year we managed an incredible 46 birdies across the day, so we’re hoping to beat that total and raise even more money.
I’m continuing to do this in support of Florence Nightingale Hospice, who provide incredible specialist palliative care to people with life-limiting illnesses.
My lovely mum, Beatrice, was one of those people who benefited from this amazing service.
Mum was diagnosed with cancer in August 2023, and sadly her illness progressed very quickly. It was an incredibly difficult time for all of us as a family. Mum wanted to stay at home, but we simply weren’t prepared for how to manage something so life-changing. That’s when the hospice stepped in—they supported us, guided us, and quite honestly rescued us during the hardest time of our lives.
Mum passed away on 17th January 2024, and we will always be grateful for the care, compassion, and dignity the hospice gave her—and all of us.
That’s why I’m doing this again.
More than half of the funding for vital hospice services comes from donations and fundraising, so every contribution truly makes a difference.
If you’re able to donate, thank you so much. If not, please consider sharing this page—it all helps.
Thanks for your continued support,
Jody
