Joe's fundraiser for Hft

Joe Barron is raising money for Hft
Amazing students from the University of Nottingham will be taking on the Athens Marathon on the 8th November 2025 in aid of Hft. Your support makes an incredible difference to help transform the lives of learning disabled adults.

Story

In November 2025 I will be running the Athens Marathon, regarded as one of the hardest courses in Europe. Taking the same route that Pheidippides took from Marathon to Athens, raising money for HFT- a charity which supports people with learning disabilities, to help them live full and independent lives. This is a cause close to my family, and I will be running in honour of my sister.

Growing up my sister faced multiple challenges, struggling through school, missing out on opportunities, and feeling misunderstood by many. It wasn't till she was diagnosed with Autsim at 20 that she finally understood why. A diagnosis earlier in her life could have made all the difference today. I will be running to raise awareness, and ensure that others can have the support they need at every stage of life- particularly women who are often diagnosed much later than men.

Your donation will directly help HFT to empower individuals and their families. Allowing them to extend their services of home support, improving physical health, helping people find paid employment, and fostering meaningful friendships.

Whilst running this Marathon is a personal and public challenge, every step will be for my sister, and others who everyday, in their own way, have to overcome challenges unseen, and unheard.

Any donations would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
