Help Joe on his cancer journey
At 30 years old my world was turned upside down when I was diagnosed with stage 2 Bowel Cancer. This devastating diagnosis came completely out of the blue and weeks before the birth of my first child.
I started my chemo journey early 2024, which consisted of 6 rounds of treatment spanning over 4 months, seeing me travel to the hospital weekly. This is where I crossed paths with the amazing NHS staff at the Dorothea Unit.
The staff and community within the Dorothea Unit provided me with support to navigate the effects of chemo, such as complete hair loss, fatigue, sickness and weight loss. They shared advice and coping mechanisms which helped me stay positive during this dark and challenging time.
I am very fortunate to be in my first year of remission and back serving as a Sergeant within the British Army. This outcome was only possible due to the treatment I received at the Dorothea Unit.
In Oct 25 I am competing in an ultramarathon in the hope to raise awareness and money for the Dorothea Unit. All money raised will go towards improving the lived experiences of other cancer patients on their journey.
Thank you for your time, your support & donations.
