Friedreich’s Ataxia (FA) is a rare neuro-degenerative disease. It affects balance, coordination, mobility, fine motor skills, and fatigue amongst other things. By supporting us you will help us to deliver our vision of supporting people with FA so that they may have the best possible lives.

Story

My brother and I are taking on the Half Dundee Running Adventure Marathon this July to raise money for those affected by Friedreich’s Ataxia.

FA is very rare inherited progressive neuro-degenerative disease, found in approximately 1 in 50,000 people. FA affects the balance, coordination, mobility, fine motor skills and fatigue of the individual amongst other things.

There is currently no known cure for the condition.

Maintaining everyday movement is vital for those with FA to live a high quality life. The vast majority will use walking aids and wheelchairs to mobilise. Physiotherapy and exercise sessions are also essential for supporting those with FA to remain independent.

These all come at a financial cost.

Any support you can give would be hugely appreciated. Whether it’s a donation or simply sharing this page, it will make a real difference in supporting those living with FA.

Thank you so much for your support.
