Mountbatten is the Isle of Wight's only hospice and is known for innovation across the UK and beyond. We provide expert medical, nursing and domiciliary end of life care and bereavement support to people in their own homes, including care homes, in our Newport building and in the local hospital.

Story

For those who don’t know my story so far, I’ve been on a bit of a journey since March 2025. At 31 years old, I was probably in the worst shape of my life, 108kg, blood pressure through the roof, and warned that if I didn’t change my lifestyle, I would have serious health issues and might not even make it to 50.

I changed my habits for myself and I set a target to complete a half marathon. I started running and honestly, I haven’t looked back! I achieved that goal in August, and since then, completed many more. However, now I want to join the 1% of people in the world, and complete a marathon! So, it’s off to Manchester!

I’ve also set myself another goal for the Marathon, and that is to raise at least £500 for the Isle of Wight Mountbatten Hospice. I’ve made such a positive adjustment to my own life, I’d love to make a positive contribution to this amazing charity through my passion for running.

If you can spare anything at all, please help me by donating to this JustGiving page, no matter how small, your money goes a long way!

Thank you to all the people that have been involved in my journey so far, and for your time reading this,

Joe 👍🏼
