Story
I'm running the 2025 Paris Marathon for Alzheimer's Research!
April 13th I will be following in the footsteps of my grandfather, Peter, and running the Paris Marathon for my grandmother, Jadwiga.
My grandparents, Jadwiga and Piotr(Peter), loved the city of Paris. In 2011, Jadwiga passed after enduring her final years with dementia related illness (progressive supranuclear palsy) of which she bore with grace and bravery. Piotr who was by her side the whole time, has ran the Paris marathon a number of times and well into his old age. When possible, the two of them would make a trip to Paris out of it, including one distinguished trip after her diagnosis. To this day, my grandfather's kitchen dons his many marathon bibs like a tribute wallpaper (seen above). Finally, as this marathon falls on the week of my 30th birthday, I figured that's enough signs to make April 2025 the right vintage to run a marathon and raise some money for charity.
Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK) is a leading dementia research charity and the headlining charity for the 2025 Paris Marathon.
If you have the means, please consider donating here to ARUK to help pledge for my spot in the 2025 Paris Marathon and ultimately to fund clinical trials to find a cure.
If you're wondering about the $1818CAD goal, it's simply because my pledge for a spot in the marathon is 1000GBP.
Thank you for supporting me as I run 42.2 kilometres for a cure!
