Manchester Marathon 2025 in memory of Mike Harper

Joseph Kennedy is raising money for Cardiac Risk in the Young

adidas Manchester Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·

The adidas Manchester Marathon is one of the UK’s premier running events, famous for its fast, flat and friendly route. The 26.2 mile challenge attracts both elite runners, to those who thought completing a marathon would never be possible.

Story

On 19th May 2024 we lost Mike, my best friend to a sudden cardiac arrest whilst running in the Bristol Half Marathon, a city he once called home. He had no known health issues or family history of young sudden cardiac death.

Mike and I had always talked about doing a Marathon together, and ideas of possible 2025 events had been talked about the night before our race in Bristol. I will be running in memory of Mike, and raising money for CRY to help prevent further tragedies like this.

I will also be running the Lincoln 10k (6/4), and Bristol Half (11/5) for anyone who wants to join me raising money for CRY in memory of Mike ❤️

Miss you more everyday x

CRY supports young people diagnosed with potentially life-threatening cardiac conditions and offers bereavement support to families affected by YSCD. CRY promotes and develops heart screening programmes and funds medical research. CRY publishes and distributes medical information written by leading cardiologists for the general public. CRY funds specialist referral, screening and cardiac pathology services at leading UK hospitals.
