Story
Our dearest friend, Darel Bryan, was diagnosed with the extremely aggressive brain tumour Glioblastoma Multiforme in December 2014. After a brave 15-month battle, we heartbreakingly lost him in February 2016.
Darel was just 34 years old. He was a phenomenal person - warm, gentle, full of life, and utterly infectious in spirit. His smile could light up any room, and everyone who met him took to him instantly. He had the biggest heart, was the life and soul of every party, and it’s impossible to put into words how deeply he is missed.
His partner of 12 years, our brave and wonderful Natalie, together with all of us - his family and friends - were utterly devastated to lose him. Yet we remain united in our determination to keep his memory alive.
Now, a decade on from losing our Darel, I felt it was a poignant time to take on a another challenge in his honour.
I will be running the 2026 London Marathon to raise vital funds for Brain Tumour Research. This cause is so close to my heart, and your support will help to:
• Drive vital research to understand the real causes of brain tumours
• Fund the development of better treatment options for future patients
• Give hope to families so that one day we can beat this cruel and heart-breaking disease once and for all
Please dig deep and give what you can. Every single donation makes a difference, and together we can honour Darel’s memory by helping others.
One in three people in the UK knows someone affected by a brain tumour. This disease is indiscriminate; it can affect anyone at any age. Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease since records began in 2002.
Brain Tumour Research is determined to change this. It is the only national charity focused on finding a cure for all types of brain tumours. Help fund the fight. Together we will find a cure.
