Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
For my first half marathon (AAHH!!) I’m fundraising for a charity close to my heart - The Family Centre for Deaf Children (FCDC).
I was first involved with the FCDC back in 2014 when I was doing my Level 2 qualification in British Sign Language (BSL) where I joined as a volunteer. A few years later whilst studying for my interpreter training, they offered me a job at the charity as a sessional worker, providing communication support to D/deaf young people and their families during school holiday trips.
The charity are an asset to the promotion of social inclusion and the provision of education among D/deaf children and their families in Bristol and the surrounding area, who may be excluded from society, or parts of society, as a result of being D/deaf.
Just some of the things your donation can help with:
- Providing workshops, forums, and general advice for deaf families
- Providing social and emotional support, recreational facilities and opportunities for families
- Providing, or supporting access to the provision of, services supporting D/deaf families, by working with other relevant agencies
