Joe's fundraiser for Alzheimer's Research UK

My Grandma was one of the most important people in my life. I was backpacking and living in Australia when she first showed signs of memory loss. She would ask where I was, and I used to think she had lost track of what country I was currently on the move in. But it soon became apparent that it was a lot more than that. Mum took her to the DRs and she was swiftly diagnosed with Dementia, which is developed from Alzheimer’s.
Returning to the UK and seeing my Grandma’s memory fade away was one of the hardest things I ever went through. She always recognised me, right until the end. That is one thing I will always be thankful for. Many people sadly can’t cling on to that piece of positivity.
