Joe's fundraiser for The Sick Children's Trust

When your daughter is born, there's a monumental sense of relief. We just couldn't wait to get her home. Unfortunately, what we didn't know, is that we would only have her at home for less than 24 hours before she had to be rushed by ambulance to Sheffield Children's Hospital.
An hour from home, and not wanting to leave our daughter, who at this stage was in critical condition in the neonatal surgical unit, we spent two nights sleeping in chairs at her bedside (despite Louisa having given birth by c-section 2 days prior). It was at this point that The Sick Children's Trust stepped in. When a child suddenly becomes ill, there’s no time to plan. They provide families a place to stay, free of charge, just minutes from their child’s bedside.
As I write this, it's been 6 weeks to the day since we arrived, and I'm sat by little Eleanor's bedside. I can't think how much more difficult this already traumatic experience would have been without their help.
Just £40 provides a room for a whole family for one night, including a kitchen to cook your own meals, showers to recharge and laundry facilities to refresh your clothes. Small mercies that make a world of difference to a family in chaos.
To support The Sick Children's Trust I'm going to cycle 121km across three counties in a single day, and I'm going to do three months alcohol free in the run up (it's unclear which is the tougher feat at this point). Every penny counts and anything you can donate will help support the fantastic work that this charity does, with every £40 raised providing a room to a family in need.
Thank you.
