Story
I'm running the London Marathon to support the YMCA Yorkshire Coast because it's more than just a local charity — It's a lifeline for so many in our community. The YMCA provides a safe, inclusive space where people of all ages and backgrounds can celebrate who they are, express themselves through dance, music, and performance, and feel truly valued. It's also home to an incredible community of exceptionally talented dancers who rely on the space not only to train, but to grow in confidence and thrive. I'm especially proud to be involved in Camp Sandcastle during the school holidays, where we deliver fun, engaging activities for hundreds of children, helping to create lasting memories and build self-belief.
Despite all the good it does, the YMCA has quietly struggled in recent years with funding. It's an often undervalued organisation, yet one that is absolutely essential—especially in a town like Scarborough, where many families face significant challenges. We want to raise awareness and support for the YMCA, so it can continue being the safe, inspiring, and vital space our community needs.
