Joe and Aine have been neighbours all their lives.

Joe’s dad, John was diagnosed with cancer when Joe was just 10 years old. John battled through the amazing treatment and support which was provided by The Christie & Macmillan and was placed in remission.

Unfortunately, the news came that John’s cancer has returned. Again, John has been battling through the amazing treatment that has been provided by The Christie. And has been receiving the brilliant support from The Christie & Macmillan too, this support has not just been for John but also for Joe and the rest of the family.

Joe would like to give back for treatment, help and support provided by The Christie & Macmillan over the years.

Joe knows Aine likes to run and knows she can’t say no to him. So Joe did his research and thought Manchester Marathon on 27th April 2025 would be perfect even though he doesn’t run – firstly as this is the only marathon Aine has said she would never do and secondly, she returns home two days prior after climbing Mountain Kilimanjaro in Africa.
