On 29 May 2024 our beautiful daughter Sophie was born.

Unfortunately the birth was far from straightforward and after an emergency c-section, Sophie was admitted to Burnley NICU due to needing resuscitation straight after birth, and also having hyperlactatemia.

Sophie had a short stay in NICU followed by a stay in high dependency before being transferred to the postnatal ward where we were reunited and spent a few more days/nights together in transitional care before being discharged.

The NICU team at Burnley were absolutely incredible and we can’t thank them enough for looking after our little girl. Thankfully, Sophie made a full recovery and is thriving now.

On behalf of Sophie, we want to raise some money to support the amazing work of the NICU team, the life saving equipment required and to make things as comfortable as possible for families. We (Joe and Lauren) will be running a half marathon and would be grateful if anyone could spare any donation, no matter how big or small, to our fundraiser for East Lancashire NICU.
